Surfing Guru

Growing up in Malibu, California, I spent much of my life around the water and was inspired to search for the perfect wave. Surfing led to other adventures…I sought the most beautiful peaks and inspiring wildlife safaris. These experiences took me around the world working with teams on film productions, in restaurants and lodges from Los Angeles to Spain, and from South Africa to Tanzania. After managing a luxury safari lodge in Tanzania, I joined one of the leading mountaineering outfitters in East Africa as the Sales & Marketing Director. This gave me the opportunity to climb East Africa’s famous mountains and volcanoes and develop top adventure itineraries. After years of living in East Africa, the surf was calling and I returned to US. I now spend as much time as I can in the water (or trekking, biking and doing yoga)!

One of my favorite spots is Mozambique – the southern area of Punta du Ouro is a gem of a place to find world-class surf without the crowds. The area is wild, with rustic lodges and amazing point breaks, plus great seafood and beer are a bonus. Durban, South Africa is a few hour’s drive away, so you can pop into the game parks in KwaZulu Natal for some “surfari” fun.

Costa Rica’s Osa Peninsula is still extremely wild, with charter flights only recently landing at the remote airstrips. With many secret surf spots, you’ll be surrounded by the sounds of macaws, howler monkeys, and an intense wilderness without crowds. You’ll walk, boat in, or drive rugged dirt roads to access the beaches and waves. Aside from nearly empty breaks, you’ll have gorgeous, undiscovered national parks at your doorstep, home to jaguars and pumas – a rarity in Latin America.

I endlessly research hidden surf spots and hit the waves in these places as often as life allows. As your Travel Guru, I know the right people in the right places…whether it’s the private boat or the best villa in the right location, I can get you to those epic waves.
